You can find Comhar documents by using the filter below or you can search directly through the table of documents, which is organised by date. The filter finds documents using three search options; document type, theme or year. 

The  document are organised by type including presentations (presentations given by Comhar at various events- for presentations from events held by Comhar, please refer to the events section), pamphlets, reports ( internal and commissioned research reports on various topics), recommendations (recommendations to various government departments on sustainability issues), press releases, Chairman's Commentary (a personal account of sustainability issues from the Comhar Chairman Professor Frank Convery. Commentaries can also be found on the Chairman's blog- where you can leave comments) and tenders (Comhar's calls for proposals for research and services).

Some of Comhar's reports are available as a hard copy. Please email niamh.kirwan(at)environ.ie, if you would like a hard copy of any of the reports.

You can also find documents relating to the Comhar Council Membership (list of current and past members of Comhar's Council), Comhar Plenary Documents (minutes and presentations from the quarterly meetings held by the Comhar Council), Comhar Terms of Reference (official document outlining the purpose and structure of Comhar), Working Groups (members of Comhar's working groups, which are made up of Comhar council members and other experts and focus on a topic of sustainability) and the Comhar Work Programme (outlines what Comhar intends to do in each work period, which last 3 years).

Sustainable development and the need to move towards becoming a low-carbon and resource efficient society is an evolving area of policy and of action by governments, industry, providers of education and training and others. Internationally, while the topic is seen as being of critical importance to future patterns of employment, policy-makers are only starting to get to grips with the skills implications. This report seeks to add to the evidence base by examining the role of the skills and training sector in supporting a Green New Deal for Ireland.

Comhar have launched a research report focusing on Green Infrastructure, entitled ‘Creating Green Infrastructure for Ireland’. The report sets out a broad definition of Green Infrastructure and explores and proposes an approach and a set of principles that should be followed in Green Infrastructure planning.

An Education for Sustainable Development event was organised by Comhar SDC and the Regional Centre for Expertise on Thursday 26th November 2009 in the Coach House, Dublin Castle. The first session of the day focused on the Stakeholder Vision for Education for Sustainable Development. We received great feedback for the Stakeholder Vision and have drafted up additional points on the National Strategy and Education for Sustainable Development in Ireland. The second session explored the role of the media through a lively and informative debate. The proceedings are available here.

The Climate 2020 project focuses on a survey of third level education institutions across the island of Ireland, on the research they conduct related to sustainable evelopment and climate change, and on the action they take as corporate institutions. It aims to initiate a catalogue of good practice in the third level education sector, and a catalogue of research relevant to sustainable development and climate change.
