The Council is
multi-stakeholder. It is made up for 25 people drawn from five sectors;
- the State sector,
- economic sectors,
- environmental NGOs,
- social/community NGOs
- the professional/academic sector
Comhar’s council members are
appointed by the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government,
for a period of three years, on the basis of nominations made by a range of
bodies. The council meets four times a year at plenary. Minutes from the
plenaries are available on the website in the documents section.
The
Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government also appoints the
Chairperson of Comhar. The current chairperson of Comhar is Professor Frank
Convery.
